WHAT IT IS/the business

Pink Noise is a non profit, New Zealand based artist directory that has been set up to allow artists to connect with each other, find like-minded individuals, and collaborate on projects. We fill a gap in the art industry in between the agencies and the galleries. Pink Noise does not discriminate artists based on their style, ability, or reputation within the field. This is where we feel we excel in bringing emerging and established artists of NZ together, and presenting them with gallery and show opportunities that they may have otherwise found difficult to acquire. Pink Noise publishes a zine featuring art by members, as well as interviews. Alongside our website which has individual artist listings, these are our main ways of getting word out about our many members.

AIMED AT/the values

The values of Pink Noise are simple: We want to encourage artists no matter where they are in their career.

For many, self promotion is a very difficult task and can be overwhelming especially when you bring online presence into the equation. Artists can be discouraged when they submit to galleries or agencies, or even apply to a job, to find that they may get no valuable output from those venues to let them know how to improve. The team of Pink Noise come from all corners of the art spectrum and aim to provide
encouragement, guidance, and advice to its members to help them gain confidence in their work. Pink Noise has already helped several NZ artists well on their way to becoming exhibition regulars and
show-stoppers. We do this by encouraging members to talk to each other and share their experiences, to connect with each other. By forging valuable relationships with our members we are able to provide more opportunities to get their work out into the public arena.

Pink Noise is aimed at anyone who has ever picked up a pencil, or a brush, and wondered if they could make a career from art. We support all forms of creativity and welcome everybody who wants to be a part of a rapidly growing team and network. Pink Noise is home to new artists and well-established NZ talent. All we ask is that those who wish to be involved have the drive for self-promotion as well as be willing to help out other members.

WE WANT TO/the purpose/principles/beliefs

Create zines showcasing the work from the members of the listing.

We want members to be actively encouraged to share the zine and their listing page.

We want artists to feel welcome into an existing network of artists.

We want artists to feel that they, in turn can do the same for new artists and existing artists in Pink Noise.
